Booting from cdrom, you get the nice looking boot screen;
i.e penguin in corner and smaller font.
But using loadlin boot from dos, it's that ugly large 80x25 text.
Is there anyway to get that nice boot using loadlin ?

short answer: it's not possible.

you can get images w/ the *grub* bootloader, however grub is tricky.

suggest you try grub in linux first; menu syntax is the same, but grub-for-dos is a one-shot-deal--if you miscode it, you have to reboot. that can be very frusterating. in linux you can reedit it and try again--w/out  having to wait.

:D  All that was needed were the files from the boot CD and the vga=XXX option. where XXX is described in isolinux.cfg.
Great, I got the penguin and high resolution !
