Hi,
I really need to install Bibletime software. However, it depends on KDE and I'm not sure if the little box I have DSL on can handle all that. Would it be possible,or logical , to install just the dependancies that Bibletime needs?
BTW,,,, GREAT little distro guys. I installed 2.0 on a pII (233) with64mb ram and it FLIES! GREAT JOB!
Any thoughts on this is greatly appreciated!

I've got bibletime on my suse system....I could try copying it into DSL to see what it needs, though i can't guarantee any amount of success. Kent made extensions for k3b and hydrogen, which are massive compared to the base programs....i'm not sure i'd want to stick with a qt application long enough to find and add everything needed to have it run smoothly. On a 64mb machine it may not even load.

Have you considered trying gnomesword? It uses the same backend, but with a gtk interface....not sure if it's gtk 1 or 2, though.

I didn't get bibletime running in DSL (never really tried, actually), but i did install the sword engine, which includes a text-mode utility to find and display desired data in various formats. It seems like it wouldn't be too terribly difficult to build a flua frontend for it which would give point-and-click access to the databases. It wouldn't be as 'pretty' as bibletime, and probably not have close to the number of features, but the size would be much more appropriate for DSL. Don't start expecting it, though....it is only a thought at the moment, and not a plan =o)

Anyway, the engine with the binaries stripped and includes & static libraries ripped out is about 1.7mb. The databases are a different story....the collection i have currently totals 79mb uncompressed. If this becomes a myDSL package, the databases will probably need to be added by the user...i don't have the bandwidth to upload that kind of thing.
