lost&found is not a good place to save files. I honestly don't know what its purpose is, but it's not for personal use by typical linux users....this may be why you do not have access to it as dsl.
root user has access to this directory, but is not allowed to install myDSL applications because the process can cause necessary files to be inaccessible by user dsl. As root you can copy the file into /home/dsl and then install it as user dsl.
A fix for this in the future: As root, create a directory in /cdrom (same place where lost and found is) and "chown dsl.staff directoryname". then you can copy downloaded files to this directory from your online system and it will be available to dsl.
