Hi folks,

I need using "makebootfat" to create ZIP geometry and fat16 on /dev/sda (USB Flash Drive) and making it bootable as well.  I looked around "man makebootfat" and could not figure out the syntax.

I tried follow without success.
# makebootfat -o usb -2 -Z -m mbrfat.bin /dev/sda

Please shed me some light.  TIA

Our usbzip pendrive install script does this for you.
It will make a ZIP geometry install of DSL to a pendrive.
If you wish to see the manual commands then take a look at
/usr/sbin/pendrive-usbzip.sh

Hi roberts,

Tks for your advice.

I read /usr/sbin/pendrive-usbzip.sh but can't figure out how to install dsl 2.2b on pendrive manually.

I have no problem to install it on pendrive using GUI.  My pendrive has 512M in capacity.

I need ;
1)  to format it as zip geometry first
2)  partitioning it into 2 partitions, say partition-a and partition-b (50%, 50%, equal size)
3)  format both partitions as vfat
4)  install dsl 2.2b on partition-a.

I have no problem on steps 1), 2) and 3) above.  I'm now searching around for instruction to manual-install dsl 2.2b on partition-1.

Any advice would be appreciated.

TIA

Did you see the Wiki entry on pendrive geometry

This can be difficult. I used to try to allow different sizes during install but gave up.

Hi roberts,

Tks for your URL.

I sorted out that problem.  Otherwise my pendrive won't boot.  I must select USB-ZIP on BIOS.  USB-HDD won't work.  I don't know its reason.  I haven't purchased other brands pendrive to try, only using Avixe Platinum Drivc.

What I'm now searching is the steps to install DSL pendrive from DSL-LiveCD.  I can't simply copying all files from DSL-LiveCD.  How to configure "miniroot.gz", "syslinux.cfg", etc.
