When I download files to /ramdisk/home/dsl and reboot, I can't find them. Is there anything I should do? (I am using a USB key, I don't know if that makes a difference).

I'm a newbie to linux but would guess that ram is cleared when you reboot any computer so suggest you backup the download before turning off the computer..if that helps

Make a file on the hard drive and save your files there, or save them on the usb key. I have an external drive that is just for linux files

Anything saved on the ramdisk is as good as dead if you reboot your computer because the ramdisk is (as said before) saved on the ram, a part of the computer that is erased as soon as the computer is rebooted or shut down.
