Newb....not sure the appropriate forum to post this question....and I don't need a detailed answer, a one or two liner would be sufficient.
I have a java application (a bicycle computer) it uses java.awt only (NO SWING), and the serialio package (currently using Sun's ref. but I could change to RXTX if needed), and it has simple textio. The program is designed to run on p.o.s. computers that a person could buy from a thrift shop and then throw in their basement for training.....
Question: I see I could modify the SNAP - Knoppix cd to give me a liveCD but I'd prefer DSL.....is it straightforward to modify the DSL liveCD to have a jre and my application? Is it equally straightforward for my java program to write to the harddrive or floppy (remember old pcs) when running in DSL? At this point I dont need to know *how* to do it, just if its worth pursuing dsl over knoppix. The key is ease, as I haven't worked with linux in about 4 or 5 years....
