Hi,

First of all: the topic should start with "Isolinux" in stead of solinux. Sorry.

I optimistically downloaded DSL 2.2 yesterday to use it on my old 486 computer, that has SuSe 8.2 installed with WIN95.

I downloaded the ISO image, burned it to CD, checked the checksum and booted froom this CD. I got passed the Startup screen, but after some time I got the above Error Message.

I then tested the CD in another newer computer and there I got passed th epoint "creating /etc/fstab" and "configuring hardware". Then my screen on that computer went black and I couldn't get any further either.

I'm a Newbie to Linux and have tried to solve this myslef by Googling for the Error Msg, but I'm really stuck now.

I appreciate any help.

TIA, Diogenes

If you have a very old computer like a 486 then most likely the syslinux version will have a better chance of booting than the isolinux version. The syslinux version looks like a traditional boot floppy, Isolinux places no restrictions on size of initial boot image.

As far as the screen goes, pressing f2 and/or f3 at the inital boot prompt will show optional boot time parameters that may be needed for your particular hardware.

For example:

boot: dsl vga=normal

or possibly

boot: fb800x600

Notice the first one has dsl the second example does not.

Try various boot options for your video hardware.

Hi Roberts,

This was a great advice: the other ISO booted without problems.

Thank you very much!
