I've posted a "How to..." in the blog space at How to Record Internet Radio with DSL.

Comments and questions are welcome but please post them here rather then in the blog.

======== Note =========
The DSL Forum Search default is 'OR'
If you search for "cat dog" you will get all "cat" posts and all "dog" posts.
If you search for "cat AND dog" you will only find results that contain BOTH "cat" and "dog"
Add '*' for wildcards, " cat* and dog* "

newOldUser, thanks for that!  It's always interesting to see what can be done.  I never even thought I could make a copy that way using mplayer.

I saw you made a comment there about the word wrapping in the blog fouling up your command lines.  Could you maybe break the long command lines into sections and terminate each of those sections with a \ character?  I've seen that done before and then if someone copies and pastes into bash it will work.

Thanks again for the tips, I'm looking forward to the next installment.

From my understanding, an mp3 implies a recorded show (meaning not a live broadcast). I say this because (unless i'm trippin') mp3 is not possible to create 'on the fly' or as a stream, it is 'off-line' compression done on a recording after it is recorded.  Therefore, for any mp3.... right click, save as...  will record any show to harddisk.

As far as an actual stream (something other than mp3), I believe it is necessary to record it as a wave (.wav) and then convert it to an mp3 when the recording is completed (if you want the benefit of the reduced size that the mp3 format provides).

So, for non-mp3's your blog/post looks like some good info (although I haven't tried it yet).  :)
