Hi,

I would like to be able to use the ifup / ifdown commands, but I get this:

Ignoring unknown interface eth0.

The internet connection is working OK, though via Eth0.

Any suggestions? I googled for it and couldn't find the right answer.

Update: using "sudo ifconfig eth0 down", I manged to shut off the connection to the internet, but though I tried to restore it with "sudo ifconfig eth0 up", I now get the message: The connection was refused when attempting to contact etc.".

What do I have to do to restore my Internet connection?

Gr, Diogenes

I had a problem with my wireless card becoming unconfigured for no apparent reason. I was only able to reconfigure it by shutting down and unplugging the power cord for a few minutes then reboot.I discovered this accidently by moving my computer to pick up a stronger signal. Have you tried   pump -i eth0   ?
