I'm running DSL on my desktop and laptop, both are in ram. The desktop has 1gig, the laptop has 256mb(shared) and 512 swap(a usb key). I leave both these computers on and just let the screen go to sleep and just move the mouse to wake them up.

Okay now here's what i don't get the desktop is working great it wakes up exactly as i left it. The laptop on the other hand when it sleeps and i wake it up the ram use is always growing a little. Like, i haven't used the latop for a couple of days and when i woke it up it had grown alot, normally the laptop is 34ram and 34swap, the swap stayed the same but the ram grew to 88. To fix it i just switch to jwm and back to fluxbox and it go's back to 34ram and 34swap.

Does anyone else leave there laptop computers on and see this kind of odd behavor? Any ideas on why it's doing that? Any ideas how i should fix it?

I've tried reinstalling toram but still get the same problem. The laptop has no hd, so no installing suggestions please.

Okay, I think i got it. The difference between my desktop and laptop was i updated alot of apps upgradeing mplayer from sarge on my desktop because i had more than enough room. So i did the same for the laptop, sacrificing about 20% more space so i get 50ram and 50swap with no apps open. Here's a pic->

Besides, running a swap partition a memory stick is somewhat... suicidal!

The updates fixed the ram growing problem. The memory stick is one that ain't to good i think it's reaching the end of it's use. So for my purpose of needing extra space it works just fine. I haven't had any problem using the usb memory stick as swap. I have only seen it used when i first install all my programs which requiers more mem than i have stock, after that i barely see it used.

Woohoo, 3 day's and working better than it was before->

I haven't used my laptop for 3 day's to see if the ram is still growing when it sleeps. To my surprize it is actually using less ram now than when i let it go to sleep 3 days ago. And all the mydsl apps still open with out coming from swap.
