Alright, i've had it!!! Someone PLEASE help me. I've been using DSL for about a year now exclusively, having forsaken Windows all together, and have taught myself to fix my own sound issue, configured multiple modems, as well as editing and configuring all parts of the installed system, and I've even got my wireless card working, using ndiswrapper.

So - i'm no moron - DSL is the first and only experience i've had with Linux, and through studying and playing with it, i've taught myself all kinds of great stuff in this short amount of time.

HOWEVER, I still cannot figure out why every mydsl remaster i make WILL NOT BOOT.

I understand and can follow every part of the remastering process. It's got a freaking script that holds your hand and walks you through it for lord's sake. So i set up my directories, add my optional directory and drop all my favorite extensions in. The ISO is then built and burned.

The cdrom boots up, and EVERY TIME, EVERY ATTEMPT, i get the message "sorry, cannot find the knoppix filesystem. dropping you to a limited shell."

I've tried with DSL 1.1, 1.2,  and 1.3. (And any higher versions than that are just ugly)     I've tried using both the mkmydsl option in the menu, and i've also set up the whole filesystem manually, and used mkisofs to create the bootable ISO to burn to a disk.

Always, the same outcome. Disk will  boot, but the knoppix filesystem cannot be found. Upon inpection, the cdrom has all the data, and all the correct folders.

WTF??? I've been back and forth, and all i want is a disk that boots and loads normally, and that includes an extra directoy with all my extensions in it. just that simple.

PLEASE, someone offer some advice. Or even, build the iso for me, and i can download and burn it. i only need a few extensions. Any way that i can reach this goal would be awsome!!

Make sure that you are using a linux formatted partition - I found that FAT doesn't store permissions correctly, which causes the CD you remaster to fail.

I've been using 210MB mini-cd's, and what I do is copy the handful of packages to the ramdisk, and store the ISO on a USB memory key (I have to have winblows, as both I need a handful of apps and I am not an experienced linux user).

I am willing to bet that should help.
