Hi!
I downloaded the CD and the bootfloppy and started booting and everything starts fine in the beginning, after a while I get an error message and the boot process halts!
The message says:
"Bad EIP value.
<0>Kernel panic: Attemted to kill init!"

A bit futher up on the screen I see the EIP and it says:
"EIP: 0010:[<00000000>] Not tainted"

I run this on a IBM Aptiva Pentium 120MHz RAM 10MB  HDA 800MB

Any good suggestions?
Many thanks
Marcus

Hi,
you have a kernel problem at [<00000000>], maybe a crash in your bios code.

It could be a hardware problem (bug with a pci slot or a network card to be put in another pci, or the ATA-66 pci, which is sometimes buggy with linux), and it could also be a RAM problem (10MB is not enough; 32 or 64 is fine).

yours
z

Hi Z!
For the moment it is win95 running on that mashine and that works just fine without any boot problems. But I agree with you that 10MB RAM is not enough, I fit some more RAM into it and give it another try.
Thanks for the help!
