So what I want to accomplish is to set up several older laptops (PII-233 style) running a bare-bones version of linux. That's where DSL comes in. What I need is a media player, a web interface, and ability to control the PC from an IR remonte control. (for music serving I have SlimServer currently running, which only requires a web interface to initiate the streaming of mp3s to that location)
This PC (laptop) will be modified so that the screen becomes wall mounted, and the guts are hanging behind the wall, and the idea is that with a few of these spread around the house, I can control music at each location.
I know that DSL is likely a good candidate, but other then that, I don't really know where to start. Any recommended apps I should consider? I don't even know where to start a search so I can help myself.
Any thoughts would be helpfull.
