Open aterm in the same way that you started MyDSL. It's important that you use the same method so you can be sure that the same user is opening both applications. If you opened it from the desktop icon, open aterm from the desktop icon. If you used the menu, open aterm from the menu.
In the aterm, type "echo $USER" and press Enter. If it says anything other than "dsl", then you are in a bad place for installing mydsl extensions.
