I attempted to download gaim from MyDSL. It was an older version, and when I attempted to run it, nothing happened. (No errors and no popups.)
Someone in the Freenode ##Linux chan suggested I download the source tarball, so I did. I tar -xzfed it, then ran ./configure. After a while, it gave the following error: checking for XML::parser... configure: error: XML::Parser perl module is required for intltool.
I tried running perl -MCPAN -e 'install Parser::Module', on the advice of ananke on Freenode. It downloaded a file and appeared to install it, but I got the same error the next time I tried to run gaim's configure file.
Is there something I'm missing? I'm very new to *nix, so I really have no idea. I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer.
