The issue seems to be within the extension itself.
as a test, copy over the entire /simutrans directory to your /home/dsl, and then run the executable file called simutrans. ( not the simu-start exec. )
Saves work OK doing it this way.
It saves to a dir called /save that it creates when you go thru the save process.
The issue is it can't create this directory while inside a read-only .uci file. ( The read only mount at /opt/simutrans )
One way to fix it would be to add a /home/dsl/save dir to the user.tar.gz file that the simutrans.uci contains, and add a symlink inside the .uci at /opt/simutrans/save to point to ~/save
Then rebuild the .uci
Once you have it working, upload your improved extension to DSL, to share with the rest of the userbase.
