I've tried two different wireless USB mice (Targus and Logitech), a wired USB mouse (Logitech) and a wireless USB combo mouse/keyboard.  The keyboard worked; nothing else did even though they all show up during boot.  Is there some trick to getting USB mice working?

If you have conflicting mice, use xsetup
(run xsetup.sh or boot with "dsl xsetup", etc)

Ah.  Duh.  I forgot that X defaults to a PS/2 mouse and won't automatically switch over to a USB one.  Works now - thanks!  :)

Hm... "sort of" works, I should have said - button clicks don't seem to register.  I know the combo keyboard/mouse is sending them because the receiver base station has an activity LED, and I can see activity when I press the left- or right-button - but I don't get any response within X.  There were no options for 2- or 3-button mouse in Xsetup.sh, is there some other configuration needed?  Thanks!

Well, the usb should take care of that I think... if you have some non-standard stuff you might have to map the keys with xmodmap or something (or install the full xf86)
