Can I use DSL to amend the partition table?

The system is running Windows 2000 and the 80Gb Primary Master disk is partitioned with an 8GB System area and a 72GB Data Area. I have copied off all data and want to increase the System area to use all of the disk.

Is this possible and if so, how?  Should I use parted, fdisk or what?

As a follow-up to this, I have just downloaded "parted magic" (27MB), burnt it to a CD and am currently experimenting with it - it seems to do the trick perfectly.  On a test (Windows XP) I have shrunk an 8GB partition to a 6GB partition leaving 2GB spare; I then went into XP and converted that to 2 x 1GB partitions; back into parted magic, deleted the first 1GB NTFS partition and expanded the 6GB partition to 7GB; back into XP to check; back to parted magic, deleted the second 1GB NTFS partition and expanded the 7GB partition to 8GB and returned to XP to check.  The only caveat I would offer is to always go into XP in Safe Mode immediately after making any changes and to run 'chkdsk' from a 'DOS Command box' before rebooting into XP in 'Normal' mode.  All in all, a very nice .ISO.
