I'm using DSL 3.3 with a Norhtec HyperClient (www.norhtec.com) using a USB stick as my HD.  Nice little computer, looks a bit like a Damn Small Machine.  This box has two USB ports.  I'm trying to get DSL to recognize my Midiman Uno, a fairly well-known USB MIDI interface.  Here's the deal:

- If I plug the Uno into port #1 and my USB stick into port #2, everything works fine.  Lsusb shows the Uno is recognized as a Midiman device, and MIDI-out works.  Sort of.  Sometimes there are problems.

- If I plug the Uno into port #2 and the stick into port #1, then lsusb shows the Midiman device is connected, but the MIDI connection doesn't work at all.

- If I plug a powered USB hub into port #1 and plug the Uno into the hub, then lsusb tells me that it thinks the Uno is really a memory stick made by Feiya Technology Corp. (whaaa?).  Other USB devices are recognized just fine.

I realize that the short, simple solution is to plug the Uno into port #1.  Ideally, though, I'd like to leave the Uno plugged into the powered hub all the time and use port #1 for other purposes.

Now, ordinarily I'd chalk this up to some sort of hardware/power supply glitch or something, but I don't have this problem when I boot this same machine from, say, a Knoppix Live CD.  So, I was wondering if anyone had a clue as to why this might be happening with DSL.  Is it a problem with the kernel, the way the driver is compiled, or what?

Thanks,

Doug
