Hello,

I downloaded DSL 3.3 recently and have been playing around with it but can't really do much because the mouse does not work.

When I boot DSL on windows using qemu (dsl-base.bat) everything is fine (it is too slow though).

When I boot directly from the USB pendrive, the mouse does not work.

I have been reading and trying stuff without success, thus I am trying this.

I have exited from x windows pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and have used xsetup.sh. I have tried all available mouse configurations.

I have also tried to create a .mouse_config file because I read about this but it did not work. These were the contents of the file:
xset m 4/1 0
xmodmap -e 'pointer = 1 2 3 4 5'

I have some experience working with Unix but none with Linux. Also I have used Unix as a "user". So if you try to help me, please keep in mind I have no administration knowledge whatsoever. All I know is the basics and the most frequently used commands.

My mouse is ps/2 optical mouse. I have tried with an old ps/2 wheel mouse and it does not work either. I tried a LiveCd of Knoppix a friend gave me years ago and the mouse works fine with that.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Tonin

What does it say on boot about the mouse?

The text that comes out on the screen at boot time reads as follows:

"Mouse is Generic PS/2 Wheel Mouse at /dev/psaux"

The message is exactly the same when I run DSL within Qemu, on Windows, but with Qemu the mouse works.

I tried once doing "cat /dev/psaux" and then moving the mouse in order to see if characters came out on the screen and they did. I did this because I read about it on some website.

Thanks,
Tonin

I got it to work.
Well, it was just the mouse.
The optical mouse I have works perfectly on Windows.
It also works perfectly on DSL when I run it on Windows (Qemu).

When I boot the machine from my USB pendrive with DSL mouse won't work.

I went back to another mouse I had at home and it works. It just a regular ps2 mouse. Not an optical one.

I had tried this before but I guess I did something wrong then. Maybe I did not switch off the computer completely before exchanging mice.

Now I have to get my wireless card to work...
