I'd like to compile the i910 kernel module for use with 2.4.26 in DSL - basically I need this to get drm working with xorg-7.2 (as per the xorg error log) for an Intel 855GM chipset.

I've spent a long time looking for a patch or binary without any luck - I also need the same thing for DSL-N as the i910 module included with it is too old.

Does anybody have an idea where I might find this (or if it is possible)?

You mean i915? There isn't a driver named i910...
It can be gotten with git:

git-clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/mesa/drm
