Yes, if you use "restore", you will get all that business automatically.

At the first boot prompt press F2. On most of the newer computers you can use:
boot:  knoppix xvesa enhance
That will bypass the startup questions and boot into enhanced desktop.
Or at the first screen asking for xvesa or framebuffer just press cancel
Both of these give a default of: xvesa 1024x768 3 button mouse
I usually use:
boot: knoppix toram xvesa enhance

The other solution is to use restore. Setup your system the way you like. Then backup and use one of the restore options at the fiirst boot prompt. (see F2 again)

Yes, I mean exactly that. DSL will make the file for you.

When you start DSL you will see a file called "Getting Started With Damn Small Linux". It will open in a browser window. Go down the page to "Saving Your Configuration:"  It tells you all about it.

Basically, put a floppy disk in your system and find "System->File Restoration->Backup". Don't worry about anything, just click Backup. It will keep all your settings. Then use that to restore your settings the next time you boot.

Just type "knoppix restore" and DSL will find that floppy. It is up to you to put the floppy in the computer at the right time.

If you can, change your system's boot order (in bios) to
1. CD
2. floppy
3. HDD

It also works with a USB memory stick.
