hello people, i have installed gtk runtimes as well as atemted both version of the gimp to run on my hd install of the dsl 0.9.0.1.
i have went through the instalation procedures as well as set up the gimp, and have got to the point where it will load up and i can create an illustation.
but..everytime i try to open a photograph or anyother image in the gimp the program abruptly closes. 
this is a wonderous aplication and being that im i like art it would be wonderful if this program work.
my hardware config is:
Processor: pentium 4 2.8ghz cpu
Memory: 256 mb ram
Graphics card: 128mb nvidia geforce fx 5200
storage: 80 gb harddrive with 4 partitions
display: veiwsonic vp171b lcd
sound: via ac97' audio
motherboard: not sure..
