Mandrake is well known for having booting issues..
Same as others , the move to isolinux leaves some behind.
Many distros now put both bootloaders with their distro,
one on disk 1 , and the other on disk 2 ..

Do you have the USB/PS2 adapter for your Intellimouse?
Try ONLY that one , or ONLY the ballmouse, in your PS2 port.
I have had strange behavior in DSL by having more than one mouse installed.
The bootup detects one type, while the xserver xsetup uses another..

Let us know what happens..

But I love Mandrake. :(
I think it was more than booting issues with Mandrake.
I was using the free edition, and since thier free edition doesn't support top end video cards, I think that might have been the reason.
It would always run through the boot procedure, then sit on a black screen.

I think though, that I am going to do another dual boot with Xp Pro. and Xandros Linux.
They for sure with my board and card.
I do appreciate the help though.
Much appreciated.

I have the same problem. The PS/2 mouse does not work, but if i connect an usb mouse Mandrake recognize it.
My solution:
I edit for exemple in Aterm : su + password root
then type mc (Midnight commander)
in /etc/sysconfig/ i edit *mouse
MOUSETYPE=ps/2
XMOUSETYPE=Explorer PS/2
FULLNAME="Universal/Any PS/2 & USB mice"
XEMU3= yes (was no)
WHEEL=yes
device=dev/psaux (was =input/mice)
don't forget to save it.and restart . The mouse is working now by me. I hope the same for you.
Sorry i'm a beginner, but this way helps.
I have Mandrake 10.0 official and Ati Radeon 9600 card.
AMD XP2000+

Well, I have mouse problem too. I use A4tech WOP-35 (PS2, but it is optical, only, with cord). So when the DSL starts I can move the cursor for 1 second and it stops, forever...  :(  But when I tried with my other (older) A4tech WWW-25 mouse (PS2, with ball and cord). I don't like to use that old mouse. This problem occured in DSL 0.7.1 & 0.8.4 too. So I'm hoping you'll solve this problem in your next distribution.
