(NB: it's nearly midnight, I'm tired, so answer may not be very coherent)

Whilst emelfm isn't really like windows explorer, once you get used to it it's really pretty cool.  Kinda like having two windows explorers side by side.
All of your hdd's, floppy, usb, etc. are found under /mnt, you need to use the mount app in the slit (has little picture of drives marked floppy, cd-rom, hda1, sda1, etc., and some arrows), need to "mount" the device before accessing it, kind of a preventative measure from accidentally erasing data on your other drives...
Anyway, once you mount (should tell you how in the notes that pop up when you first boot), in emelfm you can browse to /mnt/(device, eg. hda1 for C usually, sda1 for USB, etc) in one of the panels, and you can copy, move, etc., your files between the two panels - say from "/home/dsl" in the left panel to "/mnt/sda1/dslfiles" (a folder "dslfiles" on a USB drive)

Don't know off-hand of any apps that look and act like windows explorer that would be easy to install, maybe Konqueror might be the closest, but I have no idea how you would go about installing it, I'd say there are probably a lot of dependency issues?
But the built-in Emelfm really is quite good once you get the hang of where to find your hard-drives and other devices (ie. under the "/mnt" folder), which is the same in all linux distros, some just have fancier fronts pointing to them.

And now to sleep...

Emelfm is a 2 pane windows file manager similar to the old "Windows File Manager" that came with Windows 3.1

It works fine.

If you don't like it, you can try the rox filer extension in the repository.  It is more graphically oriented, but is still not exactly like Windows Explorer.  Give them both a try.
