Hi i've been using DSL for awhile now, but with every update there is still no driver avaible for "Advance Logic Sound, 4000"
It finds and names it but theres no driver for it...

On Knoppix :D etc, it gives it the driver "als4000" ???

Thanx

Did you try the alsadebs extension?

The alsadebs extension was taken from the soundcard driver package for knoppix 3.4 5-17-2004 so if your sound card works with this version of knoppix it should also work with DSL + alsadebs extension

Thanx

...thats good news. Where would I put it in the ISO, if it goes in? Or would I have to use it after it it installed on my machine/usb-drive? ???

Also are there any 3dfx accelerator drivers available?  I don't play games more than music... usually.  :D
On Knoppix etc it comes up as "tdfx (server)"

You can either put it inside the top level directory of your ISO, or you can run it after installation BUT you need to boot with the:

dsl alsa

boot command.  This command will prevent the loading of your old sound drivers so that the alsa drivers will work without conflicts.

Read the alsadebs.info file for more information.

Almost!!  It booted and said "Soundcard ALSA(Autodetect) and I thought it was gonna work but wen it brought up the desktop....

...Still no sound.

I used an old backup distro called INSERT and that has the driver on; Do you reckon I could get it off of dat?

Sorry to ask again but, where would it go?

/dev/
/etc/
/mnt/ ...nah! lol
/bin/
/sbin/

Thanx in advance
