Thanks for taking the time to help.

With your suggestions I am running DSL (live CD) and I am trying to learn how to use this "new to me" operating system.

I want to install NetZero software. I still have Windows 95 installed on the hard drive and would like to keep it as is.

I searched the topic on how to install software and as far as I can tell I can do it through emelfm. Could someone please provide step by step instructions so that I can install Netzero from the CDrom drive? Will I be able to take the DSL cd out and insert the NetZero CD and everything still work?

Thanks,
Yeto

NetZero only has a package for Linspire Linux, and they are not planning to support other distros anytime soon.

My suggestion is this - get a real ISP.

Sign up for DamnSmall Dialup (nic-revival)

They are cheaper than NZ, more reliable, and don't require a crappy proprietary dialer.

You just set up the PPPconfig in the control panel with your username and pass and the number and BAM, you're connected.

This will probably be very tough.  As far as i know, there is no NetZero software for Linux, and if there is it would probably not be on the CD.  Unfortunately your best bet would probably be to try installing Wine (i dunno what is needed for that) and see if you can get the software installed within the Wine environment.

I could very well be completely wrong, since i haven't done any research on NetZero. A Google search might help in finding out if there is netzero software for Linux.

As for removing DSL CD...
With LiveCD you'll need to run DSL with the "toram" option in order to free up the drive.

The NetZero site says they support Lindows. I am guessing that Lindows and DSL are not the same thing????

Milkshaw, could you go into more detail on the "toram" option?

Thanks,

I have seen mentions of using Netzero in the Mepis forums so I'm thinking it may work in DSL. I don't know if it's distributed an rpm or what the exact format is. I just wish they offered it with the 10 free hrs as they do for the M$ version. The 7.95 offer on this site is a good deal and some proceeds are kicked back to this project from what I understand.

BTW - I couldn't log in.  :(
