I just started using dsl. the letters under the icons are small, fuzzy and hard to read.  Also, in the word processing program, the letters are fuzzy. But when I right click on the desktop, I can read the words just fine. - no fuzziness. The print is still pretty small, though.

My monitor is about 6+ years old.

Is there a way to resize the fonts? and get rid of the fuzziness?

You enter it when you boot the livecd or boot floppy.

You will get a "Boot:" prompt.  At this point, type in:

fb800x600

and choose xfbdev server if prompted.
