Ok I am running DSL from a live cd and would like to copy a file from C:\ to a floppy disk.  My computer has win xp (ntfs) on it.
I have no experience with linux and have only been exploring with DSL for a couple of days now

If someone could explain how to do this I woukd be very grateful

Thanks

1.  Open up the Emelfm file manager.
2.  In the Left window pane, navigate to the /mnt directory.
3.  Your "C:\" drive mountpoint should appear somewhere, most likely at "hda1" or "hda2".  Right-click on this word.
4. Choose "Mount" from the context menu.  The files and the folders that are located at the top of your C:\ drive should appear.  If not, go back up one level and try a different mount point until you find your C:\ drive.
5. Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk into the drive.
6. In the Right window, navigate to /mnt/auto
7. Right click on "floppy" and choose Mount from the menu.
8. Go back into the Left window and highlight the file that you wish to copy over to the floppy disk.
9. Press the Emelfm "Copy" button and wait while the file gets copied over to the floppy disk.
10. When the copy is complete (The floppy drive light will turn off), go into the Right menu and move up one level.
11. Right click on "floppy" again and choose "Unmount".
12. Remove your floppy disk from the drive.

Hope this helps.

Hi folks, I'm new to linux, how can I save the contents of a dsl cd to the hard drive, so the changes made are retained when the the computer is rebooted. Thanks.
