Flash memory devices like USB drives should not be used for a hard drive install or a loopback install.

Your flash drive will fail after too many writes. Hard drive/loopback installs do many writes due to swap partitions or swap files and web browser caches and logfiles.

If you want to do a hard drive install, do it to a real hard drive and not a USB flash drive.
