Hi all!
I'm kind of new in the DSL world, but I needed a small distribution and that's a great one.

Here is what I'd like to do with it: install the gnomemeeting sources on DSL. For that, I run into troubles when I want to install packages such as libx11 or libgtk2... and from what I read on this forum, it looks like I need to install the gnu-utils.dsl

As it is said in a topic here, I tried to open the "mydsl" icon, but I can't load the gnu-uilts.dsl file. Did I do something wrong in the dsl install? Would you have any advice?

Thanks a lot!

I can't offer a more specific solution for your problem because you did not give enough details (what are you running DSL from?  what is your internet connection?  were you able to use any browser from DSL?  what exactly did you do to download the extension?  what error messages did you see?).

But I can give you some way to diagnose you problem, assuming you have an internet connection.

Open an XTerm window.  At the prompt, type the following:
Code Sample

wget http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/damnsmall/mydsl/gnu-utils.dsl

This will download the gnu-utils.dsl file onto /home/dsl.  If this did not work, your problem is your internet connection.  Check if the file was downloaded properly, at least by confirming that its size is around 9 MB.

Then at the prompt, type the following:
Code Sample

mydsl-load gnu-utils.dsl

This will load the extension.  Check this by executing the following command:
Code Sample

find --help

If you see any mention of "busybox", it did not load properly.  Otherwise if you see something like "report any bugs to <coreutils@gnu.org>", the extension is active.  If the extension did not load properly at this point, your DSL copy have problems.

Thanks for your advice... I went further in the gnomemeeting installation process thanks to you.

But first, let me answer to your questions:
- I'm running DSL 0.9.0
- the processor is an AMD athlon (I don't know if it's what you asked for "what are you running DSL from")
- I have an ethernet connection which works fine (I go on the net, download, and I'm able to use a browser)
- I changed the source.lst file for synaptic from the stable link to the test link and I updated the package database.
- I loaded the gnu-utils file.

As I said in my previous message, I'm trying to install the source of gnomemeeting 1.2.1. For that I already went through the installation of the pwlib and openh323 required by gnomemeeting. Check http://www.gnomemeeting.org/index.php?rub=5&path=sources/sources

But when I try to configure the gnomemeeting files, I'm stuck with lib dependencies. I can't install the libgtk2.0-dev which is required by Gnomemeeting. When I try, I have the following packages which are set as broken:
- libx11-dev
- libxext-dev
- libxi-dev
- libxv-dev

Would you have an idea on how to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot!
