I am trying to set the keyboard to English British and have tried the command: rdesktop -k en-gb and other variations but get the same message: ERROR: Failed to load keymap

Not sure if these files have been remove to keep the size down but i have cheated and copied the files from another install of rdesktop  and then created and copied the files to missing directory.

Sorry to answer my own question but it is now working fine.

I would like to find a way to restart the rdesktop or even shut down the PC when it exits. I have set it up so that it has an autologin and then loads straight to the rdesktop i only intend to use this feature on this particular PC and so it would be good if i could shut down when then rdesktop closed.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

You could create a shell script that runs and start up rdesktop.

Below the "rdesktop" line in your script, add:

sudo halt

and it should shut down the PC after the rdesktop application ends.

HTH

The sudo halt puts dsl in a rebooting loop unless I am missing something.....so for those who are new looking for help I wouldn't go this route.

"halt" should be for shutdown

"reboot" should be for reboot

I have no idea why your computer won't stay turned off when using the "halt" instruction.

Try booting with:

dsl noapic noapm apci=off
