:(  OK. After digging through HP & ArcSoft, I found out they don't have linux support. I'll just use the camera in win & copy the pics to linux. I can at least do that now. Next thing I try, I'll provide more details. Sorry & Thanks. ???

Even though HP does not provide Linux support for your camera, it may still work with Linux.  Check out this web site for USB devices that can connect with Linux:

http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/

Keep in mind that your default Camera software (Arcsoft) won't work with Linux so you will need to use a Linux equivalent program to suck the pictures into your hard drive and view them.  If you want to do post-download editing,  The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a great tool for editing pictures.

I will have to look there sometime when I don't have a headache. For right now, I'll process the pics in Windows & copy them to DSL. Now I just have to figure the install method for linux in general. I NEED A "LINUX FOR DUM*$$@$". I can't get my brain out of DOS. Give me time. Thanks. ???

There are two point-n-click ways to install Linux software.

One is the myDSL respository.  Click on the myDSL icon to install software, or download the files from the "myDSL respository is Online" link on the damnsmalllinux.org web page.  Then open up the emelfm file manager, use your mouse to select the file that you downloaded and then push the "myDSL" button inside the file manager.

The other is "Synaptic" package manager.  You can get it by clicking on the tools -> got memory and bandwidth -> install Synaptic menu item.

I have tried both ways. I don't have internet in linux yet, have to wait for new modem. When I click either one, they show no connection & shut down. I have tried it with actual linux software. Nothing.
Like I said, I think I'm to dos oriented right now. I'm a total newby. ???
