TO backup....
The backup utility uses the "/home/dsl/filetool.lst" as the list to draw from when creating your backup. Edit this file with scite, and add the locations of the files you want to keep.
To make a backup, first decide where you want to backup to.. Floppy, a ext32 or fat16/32 partition on your HD, usb key, etc...
Then use your menu to goto "system, file restoration, specify device" and enter the location of a partition ( it uses a floppy automatically, so no need to enter it, remember only 1.44MB )
Then use the menu option, goto "system, file restoration, backup" You will see the backup copying files in a shell window.. Press enter to continue when your done..
This is only for backing up settings, bookmarks, mail, etc.. If you want to backup programs, you'll need a LARGE backup space.
If you install a DSL extension from the myDSLgui icon on your desktop, you'll find the extension in your /tmp directory. You can backup this file by copying it onto a HD partition/usb key, etc.. You will need to re-install it after a reboot, with the mydsl button in emelfm, but you won't need to redownload it again..
If you are installing from apt-get or another source, the livecd environment may not be for you, as there is not any simple way to backup a program you have installed into the filesystem.. Try a HDInstall.
