Ok Im rather new to linux and this may be a simple thing but heres my problem:

I have an old Gateway with a 10GB hdd, 400MHz CPU, 192MB of PC100ram,and 8MB integrated graphics card.I thought I would use this system as a mp3 jukebox and to do some writing on it.Being it is old and DSL looked like a excellent distro I installed it using a cdrom drive and cdr disk.

I then decided I would try out my new dvd burner on my main computer to burn all my mp3s to a dvdrw and transfer it to my new jukebox PC instead of burning a bunch of Cd's.I used a rewritable dvd at 4x speed and used graveman to burn it,I fast blanked it first and used data disk as the burning mode,I then replaced the cdrom in my jukebox PC with a 6x dvdrom.

When I put the dvd in I can not view the contents of the disk its just like there is no disk,I also tried a cdr data disk and I couldn't view that ether, however if I put a music cdr I can locate and play the songs via xmms just fine.I tried doing "mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/auto/cdrom" but that didn't do anything.

What is wrong?????

It may be that your 6x DVD-Rom is too old to read DVDRWs.  Slap the DVD-Rom into the same computer as the burner and try to use the ROM to view the DVDRW in that computer.

Let us know if you can or cannot view them,

Are you a SU when mounting the DVD-Rom?  Try "sudo mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/auto/cdrom" or use the mount app in the slit (bottom right).

Do you get a error when doing "mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/auto/cdrom"?
Maybe you can try inn emelfm.bind going to mnt/auto and then rightclick on cd-rom and click mount, maybe that will work?
