Ok, so I finally got cloop compiled on my FC4 box, but there is clearly something wrong.

Basically I compiled cloop-2.01 under fedora (after some patching) and everything look fine. I popped cloop.ko in /lib/modules/.../misc etc.

If I modprobe -l | grep cloop, it shows up. I also did mknod /dev/cloop b 240 0. However, if I try to actually mount anything, I get:

/dev/cloop: No such device or address

Has anyone got cloop working on FC4 (or any fedora 2.6 kernel)? Or any other ideas?

Thanks!

Yes, I know, but to remaster DSL I need cloop. That's why I'm asking here.

It seems more likely that someone would have come across this here, as cloop isn't used for much else.

You can remaster DSL in DSL.
If for some reason you need to be in Fedora, you could mount the cloop in DSL and copy the files into Fedora.  Your cloop installation in FC should at least allow you to create cloop files...I have the same "no such device" issue in suse, but i have no trouble creating compressed cloop files.

This sounds like a good approach.

Thanks for the info.
