I have a new Mini-ITX, installed DSL, looks great. I want to use this little box as a front end to my local home network. I'm building it as a router/firewall. But also I'd like to use the box to fetch email and send it onto my local machines (or my wife's) with spam and virus filtering at the server level. Last, I put a fair size harddrive in the box to use as a backup device. I want to run a Subversion server and collect backups of the home directories and /etc of local machines.

What advice would someone knowledgable about DSL give as to which way to go on the 'Frugal vs Debian HD Install' question? The popup README on bootup to DSL gives some good info, but I don't know enough yet about what packages are available or what issues I might run into down the road. I'd want my little router/firewall/spam filter/etc to be very stable, and be able to receive timely security updates.
