I just got a burner and I've been trying to make my own dsl with the mkmydsl program. I've tried with dsl 1.4 and dsl 2.0, with run level 2, and everything else I could think of. I always end up with an iso-but after burning, they don't boot. I've even tried burning with a different operating system/software. I always get the message "searching for boot record on cdrom...OK" and a flashing cursor-but then it just hangs. Also, unless I was using master/iso folders on the ramdisk, I got errors about not retaining ownership of files when writing the knoppix file structure to the master folder(on a hard drive or flash drive).
I burned dsl 2.0 with this burner and knoppix/k3b, so I don't think its the burner...however It is a dvd burner and I noticed something during the mkmydsl process saying this version of cdrecord doesn't support dvd-using some cd codec instead.
Do I need an actual cd burner?? or does anyone have any ideas whats going wrong?
