That's about all I can suggest from the info in the PhotoSmart 2600 info page at linux printing .............

When I try to enter the number 15 for the HP Deskjet 970Cxi Series I recieve an error saying that my gs version doesnt have that driver compiled in, same happened trying to use the pcl3 drivers. Unless someone comes forward with further info ........... I'd suggest getting a very recent live CD (like Kanotix 2005-04 RC17) and seeing if you can get the printer setup. If this works - then apt-get the same printer packages for DSL.

Hope you find an easier solution - it looks like a great printer.
