I've been using disksearch with some other linux distros I'd previously used and have built a nice database of all my archived cds & dvds. The program is at http://disksearch.sourceforge.net/
I created a deb file from a rpm package that I found since I was unable to find a deb file when I ran Mepis on this laptop. I'm running a frugal install so I converted it to dsl using the deb2dsl script. It encountered some python errors when I tried to run it so I enabled apt and added the following repositories to my sources.lst

deb http://www.linex.org/sources/linex/debian sarge linex
deb http://www.linex.org/sources/linex/debian woody linex

I ran apt-get install python2.3-glade2
and also apt-get install python-numeric

and was able to run disksearch after that. I then ran deb2dsl and coverted those deb files in the cache to a dsl file. I rebooted and added the new file to mydsl and encountered python errors again. I then had to repeat the apt-get install process to run disksearch. I attempted the deb2dsl process a couple of more times with no luck in successfully running the program w/o running apt-get every reboot. I'd be forever grateful if someone could get a working dsl file of this app or help me fix the problem!

Does the python 2.3 tar.gz extension from the myDSL system repository work?

I've tried the python.uci from the repository but haven't tried the tar.gz. I'll give it a try sometime today and post back.

Nope, didn't work. I still need to apt-get the same packages for it to work. Here's a link to download the disksearch.dsl & the necessary deb files to get it to work
ftp://dsl:dsl@plinej.no-ip.org
There are also some other dsl apps that I made from deb files that are there and seem to work fine on my system. Any of you smart fellars wanna give it a shot?
