I'm trying to get AMSN to work. This is my primary method of communication and without it I'll be lost.

I've loaded tcltk and amsn (uci files) from the MyDSL menu.  I get icons for them both.  When I click on AMSN, nothing happens.  Have I missed a step?

Why not just use gaim it supports most IM's and can check your mail?

maybe you've encountered the same problem i've had:
if you launched dsl with a language option at boot (lang='your_lang'),
amsn will search for a language file in /opt/amsn/lang and won't start.
If it is the case, you can fix the problem by creating an empty file (or you put a single line int it) lang'your_lang' (for me it was langfr) in /opt/amsn/lang.
Hope it helps...

I have a file named langen (which has a bunch of stuff in it) in my /opt/amsn/lang folder.  I believe this is what you are referring to.

In regards to gaim, does it support msn clients?

yes that was the file i was talking about...have you tried to launch amsn from the command line, to have some hint about the problem?
gaim must work as an msn client, though i haven't tested it in dsl.
