Hi all,

This is my first post on DSL.

First, it's running *brilliantly* on a Compaq Armada 1598dtlaptop (which only has 94Mb RAM). Very impressive. It is the perfect solution for this machine and my needs (my daughters's actually).

I had a dial-up modem working within minutes (for when we take it to our friend's homes - we have ADSL)

Second, the install was a breeze - picked-up everything I needed it to.

Third, I'm not familiar with MyDSL related things so am looking for some advice or directions (directions to other posts would be fine too :))

I have used MyDSL to install GTK2 and Gcompris (as I mentioned, this machine is for my daughter).

Is my understanding correct that all I do is select and download? I've downloaded both GTK2 and Gcompris to /tmp (wasn't sure where else to put them)

When I try to run gcompris, I get the following error:

*********************
(gcompris:618): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Cannot open pixbuf loader module file '/etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders': No such file or directory

I'm afraid that I don't quite understand the error message. I understand that I'm no au fai with the operation of DSL and have looked around, but unfortunately not found a solution.

My apologies if I have overlooked something obvious or if the solution is readily available (unfortunately, I think I'm just not searching adequately).

Any assistance or suggestion would be most appreciated.

Regards,

fourebees

PS I am posting from the machine in question. Very cute!

Well, managed to find the solution :)

For anyone else who comes along later, the solution was found here:

http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....78;st=0

I had to right click the desktop and then choose "update to Gtk2"

Problem solved.
