when i play a CD or listen to a stream with XMMS it does this really odd thing. it plays maybe half of a second of part of the song and plays it 3 times in succession, then does this with the next portion of the song, it is really odd. i tried messing with the settings, but nothing helps.

any tips?

i was using the wrong driver. i fixed it by using ALSA and the help file it came with to figure out what modprobe commands i had to use, i also had to go into my BIOS to see what additional commands i had to use (it mentions these at the botton of the help file).

i hope this might help someone.  :)
