If you're using DSL4+, write a shell wrapper to handle commands for drag and drop (such as for burning ISOs). If you want to use CLI, rely on your .bash_history (up arrow, down arrow) and change file names using autocompletion as necessary.

Yes, use the MyDSL extension. But it still uses the hefty libraries KDE uses -- that extension is about the same size as DSL and DSL already can do what K3B does.

DSL has plenty of tools. You just need to take the time to learn how to use them. :-)
