I know this has been addressed countless times, but I'm so tantalisingly close to getting Flash running properly on DSL that I have to ask.

First off, I just wanted to ask if anyone had got Flash 9 to work on DSL yet? (Just to be sure)

Then, I'll get on to my attempted workaround...
So I've installed FirefoxPortable with a Flash plugin via Wine, which seems to do the trick - Flash 9 works. However, the fonts are completely screwed up. I've tried every version of Wine available in MyDSL, but all yield the same results.

Can anyone enlighten me as to either how to install Flash on a Linux version of Firefox or how to get FirefoxPortable working properly under Wine?

Have you tested flash 9 thoroughly?  Check it out on several sites to make sure it doesn't end up crashing. (I would doubt that Wine includes all the necessary libraries)

I haven't tested it all that thoroughly - only on one website (which is why I needed it in the first place). It seems alright on that one site, though.

Any ideas on font correction in Wine?

Probably missing the correct fonts... so it defaults to an different one.  I remember having to install some typical truetype fonts for wine some time ago...

Very interesting...you can indeed get flash 9 running via wine, although mine stalled out after about 30 seconds, and then it's all about hour glasses....at least it didn't crash. (I see what you mean about the fonts)

Edit:  running Firefox via wine has more problems then just the fonts!
Edit2:  On my laptop, it maxes out the CPU.
