I have a question about getting Java support in Mozilla  I have 0.8 and downloaded the 1.3 plug-in and Mozilla installed it- or did it.  I launch the browser and get - LoadPlugin failed to initialize shared libraries /home/damnsmall/firefox/plugins/java2/plugin/i386/ns600/libjavaplugin_oji.so- any ideas why?

This is redhat and fedora info, but the plugins for mozilla need to be in /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/ (or wherever it's installed to).

I have the same problem on my main PC.  It seems that Java and Mozilla have to be compiled against the same libraries.
So perhaps Java has to be packged with DamnSmall, rather than downloaded.

Check here: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/java.html
You'll see that Mozilla >1.4 and Firefox require a different version of java, linked against gcc version 3.  The plug-in download page gives you a gcc version 2 java.
