It also cost more, and is more difficult to find ..
Many motherboards will not support it at all..
Other mobos will have their maximum amount of ram installable
capped or limited by using registered ram

I run several boxes with unregistered - no parity ram sticks...
up to 2Gb + .. Never had a problem..
