I got into a situation today when i was working on a machine with "dsl toram" and tried to copy a data cd for a collegue (databases and mail backups) is there a way i can copy the cd as an iso and burn 6 of these on to a dvd or store on hd?

basicaly, i want to make an iso from a cd.

i know it can be done, but how would dsl do it?

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/home/dsl/<whatever you want to call it>.iso

should work

They say if you play a Microsoft CD backwards, you hear satanic messages. That's nothing, cause if you play it forwards, it installs Windows.

doh......... iknew that!
Im sorry , I was thinking the other way around, the last few times i had done this, i used k3b, or nero, and was wondering what wonderful burning apps dsl had as opposed to cdrecord, I was expecting a lite gui!
see, dsl is so impressive, im still trying to switch on the coffee daemon.
maybe i should go back to spend a week or three at a command line boot camp!

oh yeah, how do you list the contents of a directory? (sic)

thanks for the prompt reply anyway!
