*sigh*...
These guys just never learn, do they?
They want to have their cake - and everybody else's - and eat it too. Makes me wonder who would ever buy such a system.
Reminds me a little of DAT (Digital Audio Tape) back in the early 1980s. It looked like a potentially useable technology, but the media industry whined so loudly about it that they ended up saddling it with so much encryption and copy protection B.S. that they effectively killed it off. Fortunately, in another decade or two, CD blanks and recorders eventually became affordable to the masses.
Who speaks for the little guys like us - the consumers - at the end of the line? All we want is something that *works*.
And people wonder why I'm getting more P.O.ed at characters like Bill Gates every year.
Long live open standards!
