OK, The backup option worked well for me. I got a little carried away deleting the multiple entires that I'd
created with a couple of .dsl packages, returned to the backed up copy of the menus and reovered from
newbie fat finger syndrome. 
Now to do some editing of the fluxbox menus to further customize my installation.
